ABOUT
Alannah Jennings is an Irish composer, violinist, conductor, and filmmaker based in Dublin. Alannah takes a multidisciplinary approach to her work. Her music takes inspiration from a wide range of genres, including classical music, film music, and jazz music. The core of Alannah's compositional practice is storytelling through music. Informed by classical composers Ralph Vaughan Williams, Edward Elgar, and Benjamin Brittan and film composers such as John Williams, Howard Shore, Phillip Glass, and Joe Hisashi, Alannah strives to create emotional scores for the visual medium.

Her work intertwines elements of folk traditions and cultural practice with Western orchestral techniques. Alannah's compositions have been performed by ensembles such as the Grammy-nominated Fidelio Trio, flautist William Dowdall, soprano Sylvia 'O'Brien, the Dublin String Quartet, Chamber Choir Ireland, Trinity Orchestra, and Kirkos Ensemble. She is a member of the Irish Composers Collective and the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland.

Her film scores have been heard at a number of film festivals, such as Dublin University Film Festival, Louth International Film Festival, Boyne Valley Film Festival, and Rome Indie Film Festival. In addition to music, Alannah is passionate about film and has directed and produced a wide range of film projects, from short films to music videos, which have been screened at festivals both in Ireland and abroad.
Alannah holds a (Hons) BA in Music and English Literature from Trinity College Dublin, where she majored in Composition. Alannah is currently undertaking a MA in Scoring for Film, Television, and Visual Media at Pulse College. Alannah was the conductor of the Trinity College Jazz Big Band from 2021-2023.
